To begin with, the objective of all beer drinking games is to find the winner who consumes the highest number of beer cans. The biggest variation of the game is that it can be played with any number of players (minimum 2 to find a winner), though the higher the number of players, the more is the funs and frolic. There are so many drinking games played with zest by lovers of beer and hard drinks but Wizard Staff creates a kind of excitement not seen with other games. The game is full of fun and zest with lots of excitement with players becoming sloshed in between and passing out one by one to leave the last man standing with also the longest staff in his hand. This player with the longest staff is declared the winner and he takes away the entire prize money (if it has been decided and set away). More than the number of cans of beer drunk, it is the manner in which players join cans together with the help of duct tape that looks funny and interesting.

All players are given a can of beer to start the game and at this stage they are at level 1 of the game. After finishing this can, players are given a second can to finish but before starting on 2^nd can, they need to use duct tape to join the two cans in such a manner that the empty one is at the bottom. Similarly players are given a 3^rd can once they finish 2^nd can. Now they have a staff that has 3 cans. If the boos level has been decided to come after 3^rd, 5^th, 7^th , and so on, now is the time for all players to gulp down a shot of the boss, whichever alcoholic drink it may be. The next boss battle would come after players have finished their 5^th can of beer.  It is really hilarious to hear to conversations of players at this level (5^th) as there are many who cannot control themselves by now and some even puke or pass out. Normally, players get disqualified after a few rounds and with increasing number of rounds, lesser numbers of players are left in the fray.

Now simply gulping down cans of beers is not the only aspect of this beautiful game and in game setting of rules by the winner of every round is given a chance to set the new rule for the game. This keeps the game interesting and also lets others know what is going on the mind of players winning individual rounds. Players can come up with funny physical challenges and the winner can ask all others to perform these challenges at the end of a level. Because of this liberty to make rules, there may be as many variations of the game as there can be players. Those who have earlier played any version of the game know how funny the game can become during final stages. This drinking game is creating a buzz among teenagers around the world and is increasing in popularity with each passing day.

From the looks of above description, Wizard Staff looks like a simple game that can be played between two or more players and the only things required are beer cans, duct tape, and bottle of boss that can be any hard drink on the day. And yes, having a judge who remains dry and sober is good for the game and the contestants to disqualify those players who flout the rules of the game.

12 oz cans of beer are used in the game and the game begins with every contestant starting gulping down the first can of beer. As soon as this first beer is empty, duct tape is taken and the empty and a full can are joined together by taping the duct tape around them in such a manner that the full can is at the top. The players are now at level 2 of Wizard Staff. The judge and the players decide beforehand the level at which boss will be introduced in the game and it is at this level (say 3rd), that players are given a peg of Boss to fight off. The boss can be whiskey, rum, vodka or any other alcoholic drink and after finishing the drink, players are back to drinking beers till the next boss level.

It is possible to introduce variations in the game to make it more interesting but it is necessary to decide upon the rules beforehand to stop any infighting between the game. As described above, the man with the longest staff when all other players have either puked or passed out is declared the winner. If any prize money has been set before the start of the game, the winner is given the prize amidst loud cheers of other player (those in senses and making merry).

The game may be a serious challenge for the drinkers but for those who are watching it from outside, the scenes can be very hilarious with sloshed players trying to join the cans together with duct tape. The player with the biggest staff is the winner and it is seen that often players are able to construct a staff that is longer than their own height. It is hilarious to see players holding such long staff and trying to gulp down beer from the can at the top.

There have been concerns in the western world about this game encouraging binge drinking and the need to ban the game.
